Comparing the Size & Weight of Portable Power Stations

A backup battery power generator is a compact, portable power generator that can supply your home with electricity during a power outage or emergency situation. Power generators store electricity in its battery that can power the household appliances and devices of your choosing. Solar panels capture the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity, which can then be stored in a power station.

If you’re looking to purchase a backup generator of this kind for your home, you’ll be looking to store it for most of the year and need to be able to quickly and easily access it and set it up. When choosing which power station to buy, you not only want to keep in mind the safety features or compatibility, but also the size and weight of it. Make sure the weight is comparable to its output power and not just unnecessary bulkage that is hard to store. It will also be convenient if the power station has a handle built-in for easy, portable carrying across your home.

You may have read about Geneverse (formerly Generark)’s 30-second hassle-free set-up on our website, but may have wondered how it truly stacks up against competitors. Keep reading for a breakdown of Geneverse (formerly Generark)’s HomePower ONE and SolarPower ONE’s weight and set-up compared to its top competitors on the market.

Geneverse (formerly Generark)

The HomePower ONE portable power station is completely portable and compact, featuring a built-in handle for easy carrying. Its dimensions are L 13.07" x W 9.15" x H 9.57" with a weight of just over 23 lbs, perfectly sized to house a lithium-ion NMC battery with 1002 Wh capacity and eight output ports. Just carry the power station to whichever room in the house you’d like to use it, whether it be the bedroom, living room, home office, or kitchen, plug in your devices, and power your home!

Each panel of the SolarPower ONE contains 32 Monocrystalline solar cells, weighing just 9.1 lbs! Each side of the solar panel has a built-in handle and it folds together at the middle to make for an easy carrying experience. When folded the solar panel measures L 24" x W 21" x H 1.38" and L 48" x W 21" x H 0.2" when unfolded. The solar panel power generator also features a built-in, adjustable kickstand, allowing for a 30-second hassle-free set-up. Effortlessly carry your SolarPower ONE the part of your property that will get the most sunshine, unfold the solar panels, and adjust the kickstand to start soaking up the sun’s power! You can even charge your USB-enabled devices directly from the solar generator or attach your HomePower ONE to store the energy in its battery pack.

AllPowers

Some of AllPowers’s smallest battery packs are as little as three pounds, while its larger, higher capacity models weigh in over 20 pounds. The larger models measure about 13.8 x 9.8 x 8.6 inches and feature built-in handles. The smaller battery packs can easily be carried with no handle.

For Solar Panels, AllPowers offer perhaps the widest variety of models. There are foldable options and flexible options, with many of the foldable options having built-in handles for carrying. Both the flexible and foldable panels are very lightweight, weighing between just one and five pounds. Unfolded, one of the largest options measures 42 x 21 x 0.9 inches, and the smallest single panel measures about 12.9 x 8.7 x 2.8 inches.

Bluetti

Bluetti offers seven different power stations of varying weights, sizes, and capacities. The power stations range from just 2.75 lbs to 60.6 lbs. Its smallest option is compact enough to fit in a backpack or bag and measures 7.1 x 3.9 x 2.3 inches. Its largest measures 16.5 x 11x 15.2 inches. All of Bluetti’s larger power stations come with built-in carrying handles for convenient transport.

The Bluetti SP120 solar panel has a four-panel foldable design which allows it to fold up to a smaller, space-saving shape. It also has four kickstands on the back of the panel, to allow for the best angling to absorb sunlight. It weighs in at just under 9.5 lbs, measures 16.1 in. x 16.3 inches when folded, and 16.3 in. x 66.7 inches when completely opened.

EcoFlow

EcoFlow has five variations of its portable power station, weighing from 11 - 30 pounds. All models feature a built-in carrying handle, and its smallest offering even comes with a convenient carrying case with a shoulder strap. This small model measures 9.8 x 6.3 x 8.2 inches while the largest model measures 15.7 x 8.3 x 10.6 inches.

They also have two options for solar panels, both of which are built into a carrying case with a handle. The smaller of the two weighs just over one pound and measures 11.8 x 5.9 x 0.59 in unfolded and 25.6 x 11.8 x 0.12 in folded. The larger of the two weighs 8.8 pounds and measures 20.2 x 62.5 x 0.8 inches unfolded and 20.2x 16.5 x 0.8 inches folded. This larger option also features an adjustable kickstand, which can go from 0-180 degrees angled for optimal charging.

Goal Zero

Goal Zero power stations weigh in at a range of 5 - 106 pounds! All models have some form of carrying handle, with its two largest including built-in wheels, as well. Even though there is an extreme difference in the weight of these models, the sizing is not too much different with the smallest model measuring 7.9 x 5.1 x 5.1 inches and the largest measuring 15.3 x 10.1 x 17 inches.

Goal Zero seemingly has two different lines of solar panels, which have varying options to choose from within them. The Nomad’s smallest model at 12.7 pounds and 9.5 x 7 x 0.8 inches is a single solar panel with a maximum leg angle of 180 degrees. The largest Nomad is 22 pounds, 28.2 x 22.3 x 2.0 inches folded, and 28.2 x 100.7 x 1.0 inches unfolded without its leg stand. This larger model does not appear to have a carrying handle while the smallest model’s build would allow for easy handling.

The Boulder series has a briefcase option, consisting of two attached panels that fold together with a top handle like a briefcase. At almost 26 pounds and 26.75 x 21.75 x 3.75 inches folded and 26.75 x 43.5 x 1.75 inches unfolded, this seems like the most user-friendly option when it comes to ease of use and set up.

Jackery

Jackery’s five power stations are relatively close in size, especially compared to some competitors. Ranging from just under four pounds to just over 22 pounds, these power stations are promoted as lightweight and compact with built-in carrying handles. Dimensions range from 7.4 x 4.5 x 6.7 inches to 13.1 x 9.2 x 11.1 inches.

Both of Jackery’s solar panels have a built-in handle. The 3.3-pound model measures 16.7 x 21.1 x 1.38 inches when folded and 33.7 x 21.1 x 0.2 inches when unfolded. The 10.33-pound model measures 24 x 21 x 1.4 inches when folded and 48 x 21 x 0.2 inches when unfolded.

RockPals

RockPals’s power stations are the most similar in size, with its models ranging from 5.95 pounds to 14.33 pounds. All their models have built-in handles for easy movement and measure 8.9 x 3.9 x 6.3 inches to 12.05 x 7.87 x 6.93 inches.

All of Rockpals’s solar panels conveniently fold into a built-in carrying case. They are all very similar in size, as well. One solar panel weighs 8.68 pounds and measures 13.8 x 13.39 x 2.36 inches when folded. A similar model that can double as a charger weighs 10.8 pounds and measures 20.5 × 14.2 × 2.6 inches. Its final model weighs 9.48 pounds and measures 17.32 x 14.57 x 2.17 inches when folded and 68.11 x 17.32 x 1.18 inches when unfolded.

Summary

As you can see, there are many options to choose from when it comes to power stations and solar panels, in some cases, even within one company! It is up to you to decide how much room you have to store a portable power station when it is not in use, and how much weight you can handle to move it around your home. For many brands, it appears the heavier the power station, the more capacity its battery holds, which can add to your decision.

While the set-up, size, and weight are important considerations, remember that these are not the only factors that should be considered when purchasing an emergency power supply. Head over to our other blogs explaining what you should be on the lookout for when purchasing a portable power station or solar panel power station.
