Customer Interview Q&A: Geneverse (formerly Generark) HomePower ONE

If you ever needed another reason to check out the  HomePower ONE  – the most versatile and reliable backup battery power station – listen to what one of our consumers had to say.

Jessica Martin shared her experience as an owner of the HomePower ONE. As a mom of two and current student living in a rural area, Jessica understands the importance of providing safety and comfort for her family, especially during these unique times.

Where do you live (city, rural, suburb)?
I am actually pretty rural. So, right outside of the city.

Do you have solar panels installed on your home?
No.

Since you don’t, is that something you would want? Would you ever consider it or is it not very feasible where you are?
I’ve considered it, I just haven’t decided.

How many people are in your household, and are you comfortable sharing their age ranges?
Three. I’m 36, and my kids are 12 and 9.

What do you do for a living and what industry do you work in?
I am currently unemployed. I am actually a student.

Good for you! What are you going to school for?
Psychology.

That’s awesome, and a lot of work. Good for you. Getting into the product a little bit, what product did you purchase from Geneverse (formerly Generark)?
I purchased the 1,000-watt battery and one solar panel.

What led you to that purchase, and why did you go with that size? What made you want that investment?
Well, the battery, I believe, was the biggest battery that you had available at the time. Then, I wasn’t sure if I should get one or two solar panels. So I figured I’d just go with one and if I needed more, I had it.

With a purchase like this, you probably did your homework a little bit. There’s a couple of different companies and options as far as backup batteries. Was there a deciding factor that led you to choose Geneverse (formerly Generark) specifically?
I just Googled for reviews. I can’t remember his name, but there was a guy who does a blog about a lot of backup powers for backpackers. He had a really good review, and it was very detailed on how long it lasted and what he could charge or power with it. So that’s why I went with you guys.

I love that. I think I know the reviewer you’re talking about. (Laughs) He’s awesome. Do you consider yourself to be a tech-savvy person? How was your experience setting up the products?
I am not very tech-savvy. I can do basic computer stuff. I can do basic troubleshooting. My kids don't let me use the Xbox by myself. (Laughs) But it was very easy for me to figure out how to get it charged and everything.

How many times have you used it since you bought it? Was it only ever during a blackout or an emergency situation? Did you ever use it just for convenience?
Actually, I’ve used it several times. Twice for a power outage and a couple times, especially early on in the winter, I used it to power my pellet stove, just to save electricity.

That’s a clever idea. Have you ever used it outside of your home? Have you ever taken it with you, like if you’re backpacking, camping, or traveling, or for any other non-emergency situations besides the stove?
No, but I do like the idea of taking it camping or on a trip.

What devices and home appliances have you powered with your product? You mentioned the stove when you guys were in a power outage. Were there specific things that you used it for?
Yes. Since I’m in school - I’m taking online classes - I powered the laptop and our internet modem. We charged phones, and then a lamp at night. During the winter, it gets dark so early.

That’s awesome! What do you consider to be the best feature or benefit of your Geneverse (formerly Generark) product?
I like that it’s 1,000 watts, so I can stay warm. I love that it’s a solar-powered charge. So I can just set it outside for a little while. When I ran the pellet stove, I had the solar panel in my window, so it was charging while I was using it!

That’s awesome, I love that! It’s cold outside. Who wants to battle the snow? (Laughs) You mentioned it (the product) was the biggest size we had at the time. Obviously, we've now introduced a new product that’s been in the works for a while. But besides the size, is there anything that you just wish it did a little more of or anything missing that you would recommend?
I can’t think of anything. No.

What is one thing you would tell anyone who has
not purchased a backup power station?
It’s a good investment. It’s worth it just to have the peace of mind that - well, for me - if the power goes out, and I have an assignment to turn in or if my kids have something to do for school, I have that backup.

Now, more than ever, when kids and students rely heavily on power and electricity at times of getting schoolwork done at home, a backup battery power station like the HomePower ONE is essential.
