No.

Someday, maybe. Right now, there is just too much rain and snow in Pittsburgh to make it worth it.

How many people are in your household, and are you comfortable sharing their age ranges?
There are two of us, ages 58 and 23.

What do you do for a living and what industry do you work in?
I work in Health Care Customer Service.

Why did you decide to purchase a backup battery power station?
I lost power five times in one summer after I moved to Pittsburgh from New Jersey. A whole-house generator would’ve taken six months to install. After waiting almost eight months for one, I decided to cancel my order. Besides, the thought of dealing with gasoline scares me. During COVID I started to work-from-home, and I’ve been able to continue that for the time being. We only get a 20-minute grace period if the power goes out, and I didn’t want to go into the office, or stress about needing to get to the office in 20-minutes with city traffic or other unpredictable circumstances.

It’s portable, which is really helpful. Plus, it allows me to continue working from home. It’s small, doesn’t take up a lot of space in my office under my desk. And it holds its charge!

Do you consider yourself to be a tech-savvy person? How was your experience setting up the product for its first use?
I do not consider myself tech-savvy. It’s easy to use! After plugging it in, I had power back in two hours. It stayed plugged in for 16 hours, and I never lost my internet connection or charge in my computer.

How many times have you used your products since their arrival? Has it only ever been during a blackout?
I’ve only used it the one time, but I keep it nearby in my home office, just in case.

Just in the home office for now. I know I can also use it to power my battery-operated fireplace, if needed.

It’s small and compact, and doesn’t take up much floor space. It’s readily available, which is very convenient. I only need to charge it once a month.

Are there improvements you would suggest or things you wish the product could also do?
Honestly, I would be making it up. I may end up investing in solar panels, but I definitely plan on ordering the HomePower 2.

What is one thing you would tell anyone who hasn’t yet purchased a backup battery power station?
It’s worth the money. And if you work at home like I do, it practically runs your office. The peace of mind means a lot to me to be able to keep working!
