Preparing for Winter Weather

Now that Fall is in full swing many of our customers and readership are looking to stay ahead of the game. Seasonal shifts are upon us and winter temperatures are coming. The winter season comes along with its own set of tasks to ensure nothing catches you off guard.

One great way to prepare for the winter as well as any natural disaster during any season is having a Genevese solar generator. Right now we’re running a sale you don’t want to miss. Below, Geneverse goes over a few ways to prepare for winter weather as well as the details of ourFall into Power sale.

Prepping the House

Your to-do list when it comes to prepping your home or residence depends largely on your region. Make sure to accommodate for local weather conditions. Try to prepare for worse conditions than you might expect.

Remove any window A/C units to ensure proper insulation. If you live in a snowy region, make sure to have de-icing agent, a snow shovel, and a windshield scraper.

Put away any outdoor furniture you’d like to protect from severe weather conditions. Check the water heater temperature and drain if necessary.

Winterize any exterior faucets. Make sure to turn off your outdoor water supply, disconnect any hoses, and flush water from the system.

Preparing Vehicles

Getting your vehicle ready for the winter is tremendously important. Invest in winter tires if you live in an area with more intense weather and snowfall. Change your oil and make sure you have plenty of antifreeze.

If you have the means, make sure that your heater is fully functional. Pack an emergency road kit in your trunk – chains, emergency flares, spare tire, blankets, ice scrapers, spare windshield wipers, a raincoat, etc.

Prepping for Outages

Winter means harsher weather, which can cause power outages for a variety of reasons, including severe winds, debris causing power line damage, frozen power lines, and more. It’s a good idea to have a first aid kit as well as any emergency supplies handy and in a well-known location.

Stock up on plenty of water and non-perishable food items. Aim to keep a 90-day supply of emergency food and water, if possible.

Having an alternative source of power will make sure you never miss a beat, during a natural disaster or a power outage. Geneverse products are designed to provide up to 7 days of reliable power to appliances, electronics, and crucial medical devices.
