Resources & Tips - Take Care of Your Battery

When purchasing a Geneverse, this represents an investment that fortifies your well-being and peace of mind. Having a decentralized source of power that can charge via solar panels will help anyone get out of a bind – like a power outage or natural disaster, for instance.

A Geneverse will also help make life easier and more fun in situations like camping, mountain living, beach days, and more.

However, just like your Geneverse takes care of you, it’s important that you take care of your Geneverse. Whether you have the HomePower ONE, HomePower 2, or an HP PRO Series unit, it’s crucial to take care of your panels and battery for optimum performance to ensure you get the most use and enjoyment out of your solar generator possible.

Below, Geneverse goes over a few ways to care for and maintain your Geneverse portable solar generator.

Keep Your Geneverse Charged

We recommend that users keep batteries charged at all times – a good rule is to have at least 80% charge at the ready. Keep in mind that Geneverse batteries can hold their charge for up to one year. Any time you get down to 25%, it’s a good idea to recharge your battery, which will help ensure your battery lasts as long as possible.

If you use your Geneverse often, you’ll likely check your battery as often as you use it. If you’re one of those rainy-day individuals, it’s a good idea to check your battery at least once each season – 4 times a year or so.

Allowing a Geneverse battery to get all the way down to 0% charge and simply leaving it that way runs the risk of causing damage.

What would be best is if you could use your Geneverse battery and recharge it every 6 months just to make sure everything is running perfectly.

Avoid Water and Humid Storage Environments

Geneverse batteries are not waterproof. It’s important to avoid moisture and dampness. Never store your battery in any sort of humid environment. Store Geneverse batteries in a cool, dry place.

Avoid using your Geneverse battery in direct sunlight. Make sure never to use your unit in an area or environment with high temperatures. Exposure to fire or temperatures above 265˚F / 130˚C can cause an explosion.

Use Proper Safety Protocol

Using your Geneverse properly will help avoid safety hazards. Make sure that before you use your Geneverse you take a look at theuser manual – some safety precautions might be common sense while others may come as a surprise. Following these practices and principles will not only keep you and your loved ones safe, but it will also ensure a long life for your Geneverse battery.

For those of our customers who like to use their Geneverse in the workshop, it’s important to be extra cautious while working with tools in order to reduce the risk of dropping anything made of metal onto the battery. This sort of impact on the battery can cause a spark, short-circuit, or even an electrical explosion, which will put you at risk of injury and cause irreparable damage to your battery.

Make sure that you never smoke or allow a spark or flame anywhere near the vicinity of a Geneverse battery.

Servicing Your Battery

In cases where you need to service your battery or perform any sort of maintenance, please make sure to have servicing performed by a qualified repair person using identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the product is maintained. Using unauthorized or aftermarket parts can compromise the performance of your battery.

Never disassemble your Geneverse battery power pack by yourself. Always take your unit to a qualified repair/maintenance service center when repair or maintenance is required. Incorrect reassembly may cause damage to the unit or cause a fire or an electric shock.

Transporting Your Battery

If you’re going to take your Geneverse on the road with you, make sure it is secured in whatever vehicle you will be using. Tie it down to avoid any rattling around, which can potentially damage your battery.

Keep your unit stationary during use and while recharging. Do not move the unit while it is active and/or in use. Make sure the unit is done being charged and is not being used if you plan to move the unit.

Taking care of your Geneverse is a great way to ensure your Geneverse takes care of you. Utilizing the tips and directions above will ensure you get the most out of your Geneverse for the long haul.
